Our Discovery Process Research team focuses on developing novel synthetic chemistry solutions that enable and accelerate the Discovery of innovative therapeutics to treat diseases with high unmet medical need.
You will be responsible for conducting research towards identifying creative solutions for chemistry problems across a portfolio of projects in the discovery space, from lead identification through selection of development candidates.
Our goal is to facilitate medicinal chemistry research by finding solutions to synthetic bottlenecks, enabling access to novel chemical space, and translating chemistry innovations to the development of efficient routes for the synthesis of novel therapeutics advancing into clinical development.
Your work will support a broad and diverse Discovery pipeline that spans through every synthetic modality, including peptides and antibody-drug conjugates.
Your responsibilities will shift between traditional small molecule synthesis and Process Development of conjugation chemistry to produce antibody-drug conjugates in collaboration with API protein scientists.
This work will require innovative synthetic organic chemistry skills and understanding of analytical chemistry techniques.
You are expected to remain conversant with the modern chemical literature and maintain a strong laboratory presence.
Residing at the interface of Discovery and Development, Discovery Process chemists thrive by collaborating across multiple Pharmaceutical R&D teams.
Unique to this role, Scientists in Discovery Process are expected to operate with a high degree of independence for scientific decision-making to contribute to the direction and execution of Discovery programs from very early in their careers.
Qualifications Education.
PhD in Synthetic, Organic or Medicinal Chemistry is required.
Postdoctoral experience or prior experience in a pharmaceutical R&D position with 3+ years is considered a plus.
Candidates who will be receiving their PhD by January will also be considered.
Experience and Skills.
Experience in methodology development, catalysis, total synthesis or similar is required.
Proven track record of scientific excellence supported by peer-reviewed publications is required.
Hands on knowledge of high throughput experimentation set-ups is a plus.
Ability to collaborate in a highly integrated environment and work in a strong team with diverse backgrounds is required.
Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions, and meeting project objectives is required.
Highly motivated with strong dedication to lab work and the ability to learn across different synthetic modalities is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
