OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

About Our Client We have been retained to identify a Board-level Operations Director for a successful manufacturing SME based in Yorkshire.
They are a well-established and successful business, who are looking for someone to build on recent successes and optimise their manufacturing capability to support a period of significant growth.
Job Description The Operations Director will be responsible for end-to-end operational activity across the business.
This will include production, supply chain, design, quality, process improvement and EHS.
Sitting on the company's Board, this role will develop the big picture strategy to support wider business goals, as well as being a highly present figure on the shop floor to listen, engage and support the team to optimise shop floor processes.
This role requires someone who is capable of supporting their direct reports (departmental managers) and the whole shop floor team to resolve any day-to-day tactical issues, while simultaneously looking for process improvement opportunities and also working directly with the company's owners to determine the longer-term strategy.
As the company anticipates a period of strong growth ahead, this position will be critical to that success.

The Successful Applicant The right person for this role will have held a senior leadership role within Operations, ideally having experience on the Board of an SME.
People leadership is absolutely key.

In terms of manufacturing processes, ideally someone with a grounding in assembly-focused environments with highly complex bills of materials (although other industrial manufacturing processes can be considered too).
This position is site-based, and likely to be commutable from locations such as Leeds, York, Hull and Doncaster.
