We are currently seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern with a background in Biology/Neuroscience to join our dynamic Neuroscience team.
This internship is an outstanding opportunity for individuals with a Biology/Neuroscience background who are passionate about exploring and advancing novel therapeutics for Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders The primary responsibility of the summer intern will involve experimental work.
They will engage in bench science, working closely with their mentor to generate valuable data.
The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting the neuroscience team in developing ex vivo assays within organotypic slice cultures.
This work strives to unveil the impact of immune molecules on synaptic plasticity by applying powerful quantitative imaging methods.
We are looking for an individual who not only possesses a strong passion for bench science but is also scientifically curious, self-motivated, and capable of delivering results with high efficiency.
The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and collaborators, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Moreover, adherence to good laboratory principles, including meticulous documentation of experiments in laboratory notebooks, is essential for success in this position.

Join us in our pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries in the field of CNS therapeutics! Key Responsibilities.
Develop, conduct and optimize immunofluorescent staining techniques in organotypic slices.
Conduct image acquisition using both conventional and confocal microscopy.
Perform quantification of immunostaining using image analysis software.
Keep meticulous record of experiments in electronic notebook in a timely manner.
Provide experimental findings and project updates in oral and written communication.
Qualifications Education.
Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of the internship assignment pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in biology related discipline Minimum GPA of 2.

and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now, or in the future (ex.
H1-B, F-1) Experience and Skills.
Science major such as Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Pharmacology.
Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Must be a self-starter capable of working independently while contributing to team goals.
Previous knowledge of neuroscience will be a strong advantage.
Previous hands-on laboratory experience is preferred.
Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Ability to balance multiple projects and initiatives while getting results.
Proven leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is a plus.
The position is based in La Jolla, CA and will require 100% time on site.
The anticipated base pay for this position is Sophomore $/hr, Junior $25/hr, Senior $27/hr, Master’s degree $32/hr.
