JOB SUMMARY Responsible for using equipment for the assembly and processing tasks to produce finished products according to established specifications.
Accountable for adhering to all quality and safety guidelines.
Safely and efficiently execute daily tasks related to needle making in an FDA regulated environment.
Typical tasks include set up, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Bihler Multislide equipment, inspection of product, and raw material handling.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position.
Sets up production equipment to produce subassemblies or finished products.
Ensures production equipment is properly set up.
Checks products on assembly line to confirm that they are properly assembled and remove defective products.
Compiles records and reports on quality inspection results.
Cleans, maintains and performs basic repairs on equipment as needed.
Schedules maintenance and/or repairs on equipment as directed.
Prepares accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in progress, test results, and special projects.
Troubleshoots production problems.
Reports and documents unresolved production problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
Trained and certified in at least 1 Machine Op function above (Cardio Needles, PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles, Large General Needles, or Driller Needles) Ability to explain CIM screens and input all data into the CIM system.
Ability to name all work stations and give an explanation of what each does, name all tooling inserts and give an explanation of what each does, explain where the inserts go in the machine, and what characteristic on the needle the insert effects.
Lubricate the machine - know what lubricants to use, and how the machine should be lubricated Perform all required preventive maintenance procedures on both the wire straightener (welder for driller) and the multislide machine.
Read a needle specification, know where the measurements are on the needle, how to measure the dimensions, and give an explanation of the measurements.
Use micrometers, verniers, gauge blocks, and profile projector to achieve department requirements and keep company equipment and tools in good working order.
· Maintain a clean work area without having to be constantly reminded.
(Tool box, machine wipe down, floor, and storage cabinets).
Use specified safety procedures and devices at all times.
Understand basics of SPC (CP, CPK, and standard deviations).
Understand and perform requirements of applicable process specification.
Maintain satisfactory shift output (RE) and 96% final quality acceptance rate for all lots produced.
Cardio Needles, PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles -Setup a wire straightening machine and produce acceptable wire within two hours.
Change both trim tooling and flattening tooling.
Make a sales type changeover in one hour or less and produce good product from that changeover.
Large General Needles- Setup a static straightener to produce acceptable wire within two hours and change coining tool inserts, trim tooling inserts, and flat tool inserts.
Drilled Needles - Weld strip and then thread strip through GRM 80 segment of driller and correct any camber conditions and then finish threading up driller to produce a complete needle within two hours.
Modify carbide drills to produce a hole variability of." between spindles.
Change curving, cutoff, countersinking, drilling, and probe tooling.
Perform a needle code changeover on the driller in one hour or less and produce good product from that changeover.
Trained and certified in at least 2 Machine Op function above (Cardio Needles, PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles, Large General Needles, or Driller Needles) identify critical/common machine related needle defects and major wire/strip feed malfunctions that can occur and bow to correct them by machine adjustments.
Maintain satisfactory shift output (RE) and 97% final quality acceptance rate for all lots produced.
PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles- Setup a coining tool progression from scratch (bayonet tool inserts) to achieve an acceptable wing condition.
Cardio Needles, PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles -Setup a wire straightening machine and produce acceptable wire within 60 minutes or less.
Perform two wire size changeovers on two separate occasions in 3 hours or less without assistance.
The operator must explain the changeover as it is performed, and the machine must be run by the operator for one hour with acceptable quality needles.
Cardio Needles, Large General Needles -Setup grinding station and produce an acceptable needle.
Large General Needles -Setup a static straightener to produce acceptable wire within 60 minutes, setup bandolier tool, lower & upper center slide units, & coining tool within three hours.
Bandolier tool should be disassembled and have all new inserts replaced and then reassembled.
Slide unit inserts should be replaced, and coin tool die set should start on the bench.
Driller Needles -Weld strip and then thread strip through GRM 80 segment of driller and correct any camber conditions then finish threading up driller to produce a complete needle within 60 minutes.
Modify carbide drills to produce a hole variability of." between spindles.
Setup all stations in GRM 80 portion of machine within two hours with all tooling modules starting on the bench, setup countersinking, drilling, probe, ejection, and strip pull stations to produce an acceptable product within 2 hours.
Trained and certified in at least 3 Machine Op function above (Cardio Needles, PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles, Large General Needles, or Driller Needles) identify critical/common machine related needle defects and major wire/strip feed malfunctions that can occur and how to correct them by machine adjustments.
Troubleshoot both machine and needle related defects in a reasonable amount of time and give an explanation.
Maintain satisfactory shift output (RE) and 98% final quality acceptance rate for all lots produced.
PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles - Demonstrate a full understanding of how-to setup and use the rack polish station.
This includes the setting and adjusting of the specific gravity.
Cardio Needles, PS Cutting Edge Laser Drilled Needles -Setup a wire straightening machine and produce acceptable wire within 30 minutes or less.
Perform two wire size changeovers on two separate occasions in 2.
hours or less without assistance.
The operator must explain the changeover as it is performed, and the machine must be run by the operator for one hour with acceptable quality needles.
Cardio Needles, Large General Needles -Setup and debug the tail turning motor and assembly.
Large General Needles -Setup a static straightener with new rollers to produce acceptable wire within 60 minutes or adjust a poor bow condition out in 30 minutes.
Debug and correct difficult strip to needle attachment problems (loose needles, strip camber).
Driller Needles -Weld strip and then thread strip through GRM 80 segment of driller and correct any camber conditions and then finish threading up driller to produce a complete needle within 30 minutes.
Modify carbide drills to produce a hole variability of." between spindles.
