The Medical Franchise Lead (MFL) will lead a highly strategic, agile, diverse team comprised of Scientific Communications, Medical Effectiveness, Advance Practice Providers (APP) and Pipeline Planning Strategy.
This is a key role with strategic alignment and execution of activities related to the Neuroscience (NS) Medical Affairs (MAF) team and NS business unit including MAF Franchise Brand Planning (BP), optimization of MAF content (Sci Comms & Publication Planning) and Multichannel approach/platforms, APP strategy and overall operational and strategic team effectiveness, including monitoring of NS competitive intelligence/field analytics and learning & development, and oversight of pipeline planning for the US MAF team.
This position reports directly to the VP of US Medical Affairs, Neuroscience and will be part of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT).
• Works in close alignment with all Therapeutic Area Leads (TAL), Field Strategy Leads (FSL), RWE Lead, Sr Director of NS Franchise, Strategy/Insights/Analytics Lead, Directors of Marketing (DOM) and other cross-functional Key Stakeholders (KSH) within NS Global MAF, Regulatory, JSA (Scientific Affairs) and R&D.
• Has a keen understanding of data, analytics and/or current and emerging technological advancements to generate insights and apply appropriately into Medical Franchise strategy and/or team upskilling when necessary (e.
., content dissemination, education, multichannel application/approach, etc) • Has deep knowledge of our marketed and pipeline products and strategizes on how to leverage TA positioning (e.
., within the Mood portfolio), effectiveness and medical resources.
With the use of competitive intelligence and field insights/analytics, this individual identifies trends which potentially lead to changing strategy/tactics.
• Leads strategic competitive monitoring including field medical insights/analytics, discusses with MALT and cross-functional KSH and promptly translate into actionable customer-focused initiatives/solutions and innovative opportunities for NS MAF Franchise considering different customers, different geographic and social determinant factors, and different multichannel approaches requirements.
Being highly customer-centric focused, proactive, agile, open-minded, collaborative within teams are qualities required for this position.
• Leads team members who are focused on pipeline planning for new product launches and responsible for development of US medical strategy.
• The MFL is part of the MALT and responsible for aggregate reports/insights to NS LT and Monthly Business Review presentations.
• Responsible for the successful compliant Scientific Communication Plan (including relevant content creation for field medical team), Publication Plan, Congress Strategy Plan (in close alignment and collaboration with NS Franchise) and MAF Multichannel Approach Plan (leveraging NS and JSA platforms).
• Responsible for MAF Operational and Strategic Effectiveness including Budget Allocation/Monitoring, Contracting (in collaboration with JSA partners), Project Tracking and compliant adoption and execution of appropriated processes for review and approval of NS scientific content involving our CAC colleagues at concept level for optimal alignment and effectiveness.
Focuses on MAF learning & development leveraging many cross-functional resources (Janssen Learn, JSA, SLD teams) • Supports a strong and impactful APP Medical Strategy that differentiates each specific NS TA.
• Insight into the NS field, including existing and future competitors is highly preferable, knowledge of US market is required.
• Leads a high performing, highly skilled, proactive, competitively impactful team, with sense of urgency on strategic thinking and implementation of medical initiatives as decided by the MALT and NS business needs.
• Challenges the Medical Franchise team to actively listen to HCPs and monitor the HC environment, bring relevant insights to efficiently apply and build best-in-class initiatives contributing to in-house MAF innovative strategy.
• Provides an optimal working environment by promoting/functioning according to the Credo value, communication of a clear direction, active listening, respecting diversity, encouraging collaborative partnership, empowering direct reports, follow up on commitments, promoting innovation, and rewarding high performance.
• Develop, oversee and implement overall franchise medical strategy for marketed/pipeline products • Supervise and mentor team as well as hiring, if applicable • Partner with key in- and external experts as well as Alliance partners on identifying scientific gaps and data generation / communication opportunities • Support the development of broad future MA strategy Qualifications • MD/DO, PhD, NP or PharmD degree is required • A minimum of 10 years of Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Research & Development experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required • Experience and knowledge in the field of Neuroscience, Schizophrenia or Mood drug development and/or Medical Affairs is preferred • Demonstrated track-record of success leading multi-level teams is required • Prior people management experience is required • Demonstrated track-record of team collaboration and high skills understanding insights/analytics with translation into overall medical strategy is required • Position is located in Titusville, NJ and up to ~25% travel is required The anticipated base pay range for this position is $.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.
Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.
The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year.
Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
