Janssen Biologics is currently recruiting a Laboratory Safety Specialist, Quality Control within the Quality department.
The successful candidate needs to have strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, specifically with relations to a laboratory environment.

Within the QC laboratories of the Janssen Supply Chain the Leiden QC laboratory is responsible for the release, stability testing of intermediate and final products (monoclonal antibodies and cell therapy products).
Leiden QC is uniquely positioned as the HUB for Stability testing.
It represents various combined test labs classified based on specific techniques and / or expertise.
The test labs are supported by different support teams that offer a broad range of services including assessment and coordination of all safety matters.
The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have.
As QC Laboratory Safety Specialist.
You are responsible for chemical management and exposure assessment within the laboratories and maintaining the EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Standard on a site level.
You are advisor and impact assessor on safety incidents and good safes but also responsible to assess EHS related topics in change controls and newly introduced lab materials.
You are responsible for coordinating timely reporting and processing of safety incidents and good safes and owner of the safety metrics for the QC laboratories.
As Lab Safety specialist you represent the Leiden QC laboratories in platform EHS meetings.
As QC Leiden Single Point of Contact about safety matters, you attend internal and external (safety) audits and are responsible for timely responses.
You provide safety trainings and make sure the information in the training is correct and up to date.
You perform safety Gemba walks/spot checks to frequently evaluate lab safety and to ensure that work on the labs is done on a safe matter.
When there are any doubts and questions about safety on the lab, you will be able to (find and) give advice.
Qualifications We would love to hear from YOU, if you have the following essential requirements.
· BSc/Ba in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environment Sciences, Life Sciences or equivalent safety experience obtained working in Labs for > 5 years.
· Chemical knowledge, experience with rules, regulations and risks related to chemicals.
· Knowledge with regards to chemical exposure assessments in testing laboratories is desirable.
· Interpersonal skills engaged in contact with personnel at all levels within and outside the organization.
· Written and oral communication skills in English.
Dutch is desirable.
· Having experience working in a (pharmaceutical) laboratory environment is desirable.
· Taking the leadership role to coordinate safety initiatives and to ensure deliverables are met amongst the different site departments without hierarchical context.
· Analytical thinking and (technical) problem solving.
· Pro Active, works independently, takes actions in the absence of specific instruction, and can write protocols/reports, business correspondence and procedures.
