Job Description As the Director of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Projects Development within our client's dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the seamless integration of battery energy storage systems into our renewable energy projects.
Reporting directly to the Head of Development and Strategy for Europe, you will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful battery storage projects that drive our mission.
Lead the formulation and execution of the company's energy storage strategy across all operational territories, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Provide strategic support to the development team in identifying project origination opportunities and closely collaborate with the Operations Department to conduct comprehensive analyses of utility-scale storage projects.
Conceptualize and configure storage systems, meticulously assessing design specifications and evaluating a spectrum of technological options to maximize efficiency.
Facilitate smooth coordination among multidisciplinary teams, navigating complex interconnection requirements, market dynamics, and project execution complexities.
Oversee meticulous management of project budgets, timelines, and deliverables, fostering strong relationships with suppliers and procurement processes.
Interact with key stakeholders such as Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to optimize network routes and facilitate complex connections.
Drive the development of tender packages and draft detailed technical specifications to streamline the BESS component procurement process.
Maintain strict project schedules, ensuring milestone compliance and proactively managing the storage procurement process to mitigate risks and optimize outcomes.
The Successful Applicant At least 15 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a proven track record of successful renewable energy project development from inception to commercial operation.
A distinguished background in energy storage strategy and project management, with extensive experience in renewable energy project development and a nuanced understanding of BESS projects.
Demonstrated proficiency in navigating regulatory frameworks and leveraging deep knowledge of specific Spanish regulations to drive project development initiatives.
Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset, backed by a proactive approach to problem-solving and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
A history of leadership in multinational environments, characterized by a strong ability to inspire and motivate teams toward shared goals.
A visionary outlook, along with a strategic orientation toward business objectives and an unrelenting pursuit of innovation.
Bachelor's degree with an MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
Knowledge of the storage sector and specific Spanish regulations.
